Khalid Naseem

Professional Biography

Khalid Naseem is a visionary technology leader with a distinguished record of driving innovation, transformation, and operational excellence across broadcast, IT, utilities, and emerging technology sectors. His career spans senior leadership and consultancy roles with organisations such as HP (as a Worldwide Principal Consultant), BBC, TVNZ, S4C, Scottish TV, Mercury, and FCLM.

A pioneer in digital transformation within Aotearoa, Khalid was the instigator of digital broadcasting in HD, custodian of broadcasting standards New Zealand (Purple and Blue Book), and the architect of Project Manawa, which proposed the unification of non-linear and linear broadcasting, a concept that anticipated the convergence models now shaping global media. At TVNZ, he led initiatives that brought the broadcast industry together, resulting in the formation of Freeview, where he served as Technology Architecture Chair, and Program Manager of all broadcast projects.

At the BBC, Khalid managed large-scale, multimillion-pound projects including BBC West One (as Technical Project Manager for News and Studios) and the BBC Salford Quays development, applying both PMP and PRINCE2 methodologies. His approach combines deep technical insight with strategic foresight, ensuring seamless alignment between technology delivery and business outcomes.

Beyond broadcasting, Khalid has demonstrated exceptional versatility across diverse technological domains. He has led innovations in IoTrenewable energy (including solar and waste-to-energy conversion), UAV research and development, and business transformation. His work in utilities, notably with Mercury and FCLM, included national infrastructure rollout projects in metering, distribution, and smart systems.

Khalid’s expertise extends into IT Service Managementdigital architectures, and operational excellence, where he has consistently delivered efficiency, resilience, and measurable performance improvements. As a mentor and team developer, he is known for nurturing talent and building high-performing, future-ready teams.

In his personal time, Khalid enjoys home automationprogramming, and building electronic systems and devices, continuing his lifelong passion for innovation and hands-on technology exploration.
